Kencana unit bags RM92m contract

KUALA LUMPUR: KENCANA PETROLEUM BHD []'s subsidiary Kencana HL Sdn Bhd has secured a contract for a subsea pipeline installation in Labuan worth RM91.9 million from the ministry of energy, green TECHNOLOGY [] and water.

The contract entails the installation of the pipeline between a water treatment plant in Beaufort, Sabah and Labuan, as well as other related external works, Kencana Petroleum told Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday, May 11.

The one-off pipeline installation contract was awarded to Kencana HL-Leighton joint venture, a non-incorporated business joint venture between Kencana HL and Leighton Contractors (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

It is slated for delivery within the fourth quarter of 2010.

Kencana said the contract is expected to contribute positively to the group's earnings for the financial years ending July 31, 2010 and July 31, 2011.
